The Path to Microfrontends

Avatar for Anthony Frehner

with Anthony Frehner

Front End Architect at Pattern

In this event, we explored what happens under the hood when you build a single-page application, so we could learn how a microfrontend setup is not as strange or exotic as you may think. Anthony walked us through CommonJS and ESM interopability, bundlers and module formats, bundle- vs build-time dependencies, and the current movements of microservices and bundlers (e.g. Snowpack, Vite) and how they all intersect.

Anthony has a hypothesis that microfrontends will converge with the future of the web itself, and by the end of this talk he had converted a lot of us into believers too.
